Job Description:
Reports to the Purchasing Manager - Manufacturing. Coordinate assigned purchasing activities with those of other departments. Obtain quality materials from reliable sources to
meet company goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Purchase a variety of production materials, all manufactured tooling, maintenance and repair materials, and other shop supplies
- Monitor factors such as lead-times, quality, costs, source availability, etc., to identify and eliminate procurement problems
- Assist Purchasing Manager - Manufacturing in sourcing and procurement of productive materials and outside processing services as related to company activities
- Assist Purchasing Manager - Manufacturing with delivery follow-up and schedule changes to insure a timely flow of material
- Work with other departments to coordinate purchasing activities and resolve any problems that arise
- Coordinate vendor related activities with all departments to insure a timely and efficient flow of information and materials
- Evaluate current and potential sources of materials and processes as required by company activities
- Supervise an employee engaged in shipping/receiving and miscellaneous purchasing activities as needed
- Coordinate the sale of obsolete, excess, and scrap materials
- Identify and pursue cost savings and cost avoidance programs
- Operate a terminal by inputting and retrieving information as needed
- Assist in monitoring all inventory and cost programs. Perform asset management with the objective of maximizing shipments while minimizing inventory costs. Coordinate the
handling and dissemination of information to various departments and management
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Observe all safety rules and regulations
- Constantly strive to meet or exceed company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager - Manufacturing or Director of Manufacturing
Requirements include:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Management, or other related degree program and a minimum of five (5) years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Mobile Hydraulic Equipment
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing
- Experience in Global Sourcing
- Excellent negotiation skills in the purchase of equipment, productive materials, shop supplies, and services
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of major suppliers
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures
- Technically oriented, good mechanical aptitude
- Good mathematical skills
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
- Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
- Must be willing to travel on occasion
- Ability to work well with others
