The Z21 Series and Z25 Series Power Take-offs for the RAM TorqueFlite/ZF PowerLine Transmission
Muncie Power Products has released the Z21 Series and Z25 Series for the new RAM TorqueFlite HD/ZF Powerline transmission on Dodge 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks starting in model year 2025.
This transmission allows the use of left, right, or dual PTOs. The PTO openings are standard on diesel trucks and optional on gas trucks.
Z21 Series
The Z21 Series PTO is specifically designed only for the right side (passenger side) of RAM applications. This medium-duty, clutch shift PTO features a similar architecture to our A20 Series PTO, allowing for a rotatable pump flange for optimal pump mounting flexibility and trusted clutch pack technology.
With a single ratio option, the Z21 Series uses 130% of the engine speed. It also has a single torque rating of 265 lbs.ft. This PTO also has different port sizes on the activation and switch ports, an integral solenoid, and precision ground gears for a long-lasting life. It also features a single gasket, so measuring backlash during installation is unnecessary.
The PH Series and PK Series Gear Pumps and the FX Series Bent Axis Piston Pump pair well with the Z21 Series.
On RAM applications, there is a larger access panel on this side of the transmission, and the PTO is to be installed through the access panel. This means that the removal of the exhaust is not permitted. The Z21 Series features a low-profile housing to assist in an easier installation.
Z25 Series
This light-duty, clutch shift PTO is specifically designed for the left side (driver side) of RAM applications. It has a single ratio option using 145% of the engine speed, and it has a single torque rating of 125 lbs.ft.
The PF4 Series and FX Series Bent Axis Piston Pump are ideal pump solutions for the Z25 Series. The small pumps allow for direct mounting capabilities on 4x4 applications.
Much like the Z21 Series, this PTO also has different port sizes on the activation and switch ports, an integral solenoid, and precision ground gears for a long-lasting life. It also features a single gasket, so measuring backlash during installation is unnecessary. It also has a low-profile housing due to the space limitations on the chassis.
Both the Z21 Series and Z25 PTOs are applicable for tow and recovery, utility, aerial, construction, material handling, and service truck markets. Additionally, both PTOs feature a higher torque rating than our previous PTO options for RAM applications.
