March 30, 2020

Our environments (work, home, school, neighborhoods and communities) have all been affected. We use these environments to maintain our health, create a sense of community, and gain assurance.  During this time much of this has been altered and even taken away. What can we do to still connect with one another?

  • Set a time each evening to connect with someone (family, friend, co-worker, neighbor)
  • Call versus text (video chat if possible)
  • Tune into live streams provided by many community resources in lieu of face to face gatherings (faith based organizations, public lectures, museum presentations, personal development and community engagement)
  • Avoid talking about COVID-19 for specified periods of time
  • As Mr. Chambers suggests, check the news once or twice a day; and rely on facts and trusted sources
  • Walk away: if you find yourself completely consumed take a step back, take a few deep breaths, come back to the situation with a clear mind
