Another company statistic we want to share is that only 3 of our employees who have contracted COVID-19 were vaccinated.  That means 93 out of 96 Muncie Power Products employees who have or had COVID-19 are/were unvaccinated.

We continue to review research on vaccinations and mask mandates and other means to keep our employees safe.  After a full review of information from Indiana, Oklahoma, and across the country, at this time, we are not requiring masks or vaccinations.  In any event, we strongly encourage everyone to:

  • get vaccinated; and
  • take advantage of the clinics we are offering.

We are holding a vaccination clinic (flu, COVID-19, Tdap, shingles, pneumonia) in Tulsa on September 8.  For Muncie employees, we held a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on May 20, are holding a flu vaccination clinic on October 6, and are working to schedule another COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

In addition to our strong encouragement to get vaccinated and our vaccination clinics, we are offering employees a chance to win $5,000 and temporary employees a chance to win $1,000!

Drawing:

  • For employees, four drawings for $5,000; two drawings for Tulsa and two drawings for Muncie, MDCs, and Sales.
  • For temporary employees, one drawing for $1,000.

How to be Eligible for Drawing:

  • Receive second shot of Pfizer or Moderna, or one shot, if Johnson & Johnson, by November 5.
  • If vaccinated prior to this announcement, you are eligible for the drawing; but, we must have your vaccination card. Be sure to submit it if you have not already done so.
  • Provide proof of vaccination to HR.

Criteria:

  • Muncie Power Products must reach a 75% vaccination rate of employee count (305 employees and temporary employees) by November 5.
    • We currently are at a 48% vaccination rate for all employees and temporary employees.
    • Per the CDC, 74.2% of the US population 18 and over has had one dose of the vaccination.  (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/).
  • Employee count for 75% calculation is based upon full-time, part-time and temporary employees as of today, September 2.
  • Must be employed and fully vaccinated on date of drawing to win.

How Drawing will be Conducted:

  • Drawing will be held on November 19.
  • Random numbers will be assigned to each employee / temporary employee.
  • Drawings will be live and recorded.
  • You may watch the drawing live.
  • Payment to the winners will be issued the week of Thanksgiving. (Please note the payment is subject to taxes).

Finally, you may or may not know Muncie Power Products continued offering paid time off for COVID-19 qualifying absences under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) although legislation did not mandate it after December 31, 2020.  ARPA is set to expire on September 30, 2021.  This means Muncie Power Products will not be providing paid time off for COVID-19 related absences after September 30.  Employees will have to use other accrued paid time off or unpaid time for COVID-19 related absences.

Seize the moment and take advantage of what Muncie Power Products is offering you!  Vaccination is the best protection to stop the spread of COVID-19.  Let’s each do our part for the protection of ourselves and each other.

If you have any questions, we are here to support you! Please reach out to any member of Human Resources.
