Despite rising numbers, we are not making any changes at this time, but we are considering adjustments that could include returning to a mask mandate.  If you have been vaccinated, please provide your vaccination card to Human Resources.  If you haven’t been vaccinated, please consider the following.

The new delta variant is causing a surge in COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations around the nation, which indicates that this pandemic is far from over. Below are some factual highlights to help keep you updated on what our country is currently experiencing:

  • COVID hospitalizations are at all all-time high. 97% of those hospitalizations are unvaccinated individuals. (Source: NY Times)
  • COVID vaccines have been shown to be very powerful in preventing more severe disease and the need for hospitalization. Breakthroughs occur at a much lower rate than in people who are unvaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated, the overall risk of hospitalization and death due to COVID-19 is much lower than among unvaccinated people with similar risk factors. (Source: Mayo Clinic)
  • As of August 2, the CDC said there had been 7,525 vaccinated people who were hospitalized or died who had tested positive for coronavirus – out of more than 164 million fully vaccinated Americans. That equals .00003 percent. Additionally, CDC director Rochelle Walensky has said that 99.5 percent of all deaths from COVID-19 are in the unvaccinated. (Source: Boston University)
  • Nobody knows how the virus is going to attack someone. Additionally, nobody knows the long-term effects of the COVID-19 virus. The side effects of the vaccine are mild, and some people have none at all. (Source: USA Today)

Keeping our employees and our families safe is always the top priority at Muncie Power Products.   The data strongly suggests vaccines are the best way to protect yourself, and help slow this virus down.  We strongly encourage you to get vaccinated.
