COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES - MUNCIE 11-3-2020
This weekend, we were made aware of two (2) instances of employees testing positive for COVID-19. Although we are unable to share complete details related to the situation due to HIPAA and privacy regulations, we can share these details and facts with you.
Employee #1 is a Pershing employee. The employee chose a self-quarantine as a result of experiencing symptoms. The employee has been away from the facility since noon, Wednesday on October28, 2020. Their principal work area was cleaned and sanitized upon dispatch. The employee and their spouse were tested on Thursday, October 29, 2020, and received the positive result over the weekend. It was reported that the spouse’s employer, also had four (4) additional employees in that department test positive. Other members of the employee’s department, and people that were in close contact with the employee, have been informed and have taken the necessary precautions as a result, including consultation with their physician and testing.
Employee #2 is a Delaware Building employee. That employee was experiencing symptoms and was quarantined soon after. They have not been in the facility since 11:00 a.m. on October 27, 2020. The employee was tested on October 29, 2020 and received a positive result on Sunday, November 1, 2020. The employee works in an individual office space that was sanitized the day of their departure from the building. Other members of the employee’s department, and people that were in close contact with the employee, have been informed and have taken the necessary precautions as a result including consultation with their physician and testing.
Potential exposure: We are also closely monitoring a potential third incident, wherein a Delaware Building employee has been in contact with family members that may have been exposed. The employee is away from the facility awaiting test results and additional guidance from their physician. Other members of the employee’s department, and people that were in close contact with the employee, have been informed and have taken the necessary precautions as a result including consultation with their physician and testing.
Here is what we have done and, and what we are preparing to do.
- Both employees will remain away from the facility until they receive a negative test and are released by their physician to safely return to work.
- We have contacted both employees to determine the amount of interaction with other employees.
- Neither employee had significant contact and exposure with their fellow employees. We communicated to those employees who were in close proximity to those two employees, along with the remaining employees in that facility.
After review of guidance and recommendation from CDC and OSHA, we believe we have taken the appropriate steps in response to the incident. Our next steps will include further contacts with the employees for an update. We will keep you updated on our progress and next steps.
In the meantime, please continue to follow protocol with respect to hand washing, physical distancing, wearing face masks, and other safety measures. Feel free to contact any member of management with questions or concerns.
